The year 2022 has been such a year. I am sure you have had a mix of experiences—the good, the bad, and even the ugly.
Whatever the case, one thing you must never forget is that all of your experiences conspire to prepare you for tomorrow.
The question that remains before us would be, "How do you plan to spend 2023?”
Sometimes we just want to go with the flow and navigate where the waves lead us, but do we amount to much that way?
What if you become more intentional about what you did, what you tell yourself, or even who you associate with?
What if you are just a little more intentional?
But how?
First,
• Review your goals for the current year
Did you reach your goals?
If you didn't, why?
If your plans change, fine… but you should reset your goals when that happens.
Have an honest conversation with yourself.
• Identify three big lessons
Identify at least three big lessons for the year.
▸ What went well? Can you identify why?
▸ What went poorly, and is there a root cause?
• Check your spending
Tracking illuminates.
I encourage keeping a budget, but you should reflect on your spending once a year.
Ask: did my spending align with my goals?
Adjust as necessary for 2023.
• Audit your relationships
Ask the following questions:
▸ Which relationships drained you?
▸ Which fueled you?
▸ Which did you not invest enough time in?
▸ Which did you invest too much time in?
• Review your career aspirations
Every year is an opportunity to make progress toward your long-term goals.
▸ Did you stay on track?
▸ Do you need to reset your aspirations?
▸ What action do I need to take in 2023?
• Set goals for next year
I split my life into eight domains:
▸ Work
▸ Finances
▸ Family
▸ Community
▸ Health
▸ Spiritual
▸ Recreation
▸ Self-development
Set at least one goal for each.
This will keep you balanced and fueled.
• Schedule your vacations
If you wait to schedule your vacations, they may not happen.
Schedule them now, so work flex to play, not the other way around.
• Identify one new habit for the new year
It’s easy to try and do too much.
Just pick one habit you’ll implement and focus on it for a full year.
It seems small, but over the course of 10 years, that's ten new habits.
Fractionalized focus is the same as no focus at all.
• Purge closets/things to donate
December is a great trigger to clean up your life and home.
If you haven't worn it or used it, donate it.
Selling it is usually not worth it and results in it staying in the house.
• Find a way to give back
Tons of families go without essentials during the holidays.
By giving back, you help a family and refocus yourself away from things and back to others.
Be a blessing to others and expect nothing back in return.
• Be present with family and friends
Get off your phone and start a conversation.
You won't remember the latest from social media, but you will remember the joy of the game you played or the conversation you had.

• Review your goals
• Identify three big lessons
